New Semi-Truck Safety Technology Standard On New LT Series
According to the Department of Transportation, the volume of freight transported over the nation’s roads is projected to increase 45 percent by 2040. Simultaneously, traffic volumes on existing routes will increase as well. As a result, semi-truck technology which mitigates or altogether avoids collisions is welcome indeed.
First Standard System From an OEM
According to an HDT report, International Truck will make an advanced driver assistance safety system standard on its LT Series Class 8 tractor. Collision mitigation and stability technologies will be key parts of the system, designed to help drivers avoid rollovers and collisions. International will become the first OEM to make such a high-level, integrated driver safety system standard on a series of on-highway trucks.
Comprehensive Safety System
The Bendix Wingman Advanced System specifically provides:
- Adaptive cruise control
- Collision mitigation braking
- Following distance reports
- Stationary object alerts
- Bendix ESP stability technology
